Malaysia Rich ‘Food’ Heritage

Malaysian Unity, Culture, Arts and Heritage Minister Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal announced that nasi lemak, yong tau foo and tosai are among 100 local foods that have been given national heritage status.

Other foods include Penang char kuey teow and pisang goreng (fried banana).

The annoucement was made on Saturday at a ceremony at Victoria Institution (VI). The institution is 116-year-old and was also declared a national heritage building.
